THE CAMPSITE INSPECTORS

Our review of Ingfield Farm Campsite

A Review of Ingfield Farm Campsite, Inbirchworth, South Yorkshire

Overview

We found this campsite by sheer chance in October 2019 as we were researching nearby sites, we wanted something quick to get to do not much traveling. As we were browsing we came across Ingfield Farm Campsite in Inbirchworth near Penistone in Barnsley. The site had some decent comments on the webpage and the pictures looked pretty good too. So we booked for a 3 day stay. Here is our independent Review of this Campsite.

The surroundings

The site is pretty large consisting of two very large flat fields bordered by trees and walls. The site is set in open countryside and has some magnificent views for miles around in all directions.

Security

I must say that this site has the best security we have ever experienced anywhere! In order to get into the site where the tents are pitched, you have to enter your Unique 6 digit PIN number into the key panel at the side of a barrier, once this is accepted then the barrier lifts and allows entry. And your code only lasts until 12pm on the day of your departure after this time it will expire! So this ensures you are away on time but also prevents any unwanted guests and prevents caravan theft. The warden is a very nice chap who is extremely security conscious who lives directly next to the barrier gate, he maintains a safe environment for all using the site.

The pitch

The pitch sizes on this site are amazing, very large and level ground. The grass is kept really well maintained throughout the site and hook up (EHU) is available on 80% of the pitches. There’s a feeling of openness on the pitches and not too cramped between each pitch.

Staff

All the staff are very friendly, the lady at the bungalow who takes your money and books you in is very welcoming and Andy the warden is very friendly and accommodating too.

Things to do

On the site there is little to do really, however there are some amazing walks to be had and they even have some Alpacas about half a mile walk away. There is a small picnic area with a stream nearby, ideal for those summer afternoons. The kids wouldn’t be bored here with plenty of open play in the massive campsite fields and farm path walks. And we have two dogs, and enjoy relaxing so this site is an ideal spot for us.

Facilities

The facilities here are quite good, the shower blocks and toilets are clean and are well maintained. The showers are run by tokens which you purchase for a minimum amount from the warden. The site has its own ice cream kiosk serving many flavours of home made ice cream throughout the summer.

Price

The site fees are very reasonable here at only £17 per night with hook up (EHU). And around £12 per night without hook up.
