Overview
We have been looking at these units for a while now, they first caught our eye in 2019 at a local camping supplier. We liked the home from home appeal of the unit especially with the bamboo work top and the fabric colour. We knew instantly this would go really well with our Rosewood Tipi tent based on the colour scheme.
Why this storage unit?
Well just look at it! It has a very appealing look in terms of the colour scheme and it’s bamboo wooden work surface. There are other suppliers that do similar units but we felt that those were not as good quality in terms of the fabric and the bamboo work surface appeared more thicker on this Vango model.
Build Quality
The build quality of this unit is really good! The fabric that forms the storage is very strong (much thicker we thought than some of the other brands), the frame is strong tubular aluminium frame which makes it feel very sturdy. It has two rear mesh vents for air circulation, ideal when storing perishable foods. The bamboo wooden work surface is quite thick and feels really strong, this clips onto the frame using 4 ring clamps securing the work surface in place. We have another granite style storage unit of a similar design and this bamboo storage looks and feels far more sturdy than our other one. When assembling this unit, it just folds upright and is secured with 4 Velcro heavy duty straps at the bottom, then the work surface just clips on top.
Pack size and weight
When packed in it’s convenient carry bag the pack size is L60 x H10 x W52 and weighs around 6.45kg. May be slightly heavier than aluminium units but the robust quality and looks appeal make up for this.
Our verdict
This unit has a price tag of around £60, we believe this is money worth spending. We base this opinion on the build quality and looks of the unit. The carry bag also is of really good quality made from the same robust material of the unit. We have looked at similar storage unit’s from other brands and we feel that this unit has the edge in terms of build quality and value for your hard earned pennies. I’m sure this unit will last you many years of happy camping. Suitable for use in tents, caravan awnings and motorhome awnings.
